In line with the principles and commitments outlined in the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), and in preparation for the first African regional review of the implementation of the GCM, the United Nations Network on Migration (UNNM) and the African Union Commission (AUC) jointly convened a stakeholder consultation on Supporting the integration of Migrants and their contribution to Development.
The thematic-based multi-stakeholder consultations were on Global Compact for Migration Thematic area 3 “Supporting the integration of Migrants and their contribution to Development” and were driven under the auspices of the UNNM with agencies such as WHO, ILO, and IOM which had co-lead roles. The Africa consultation is moderated by Dr. Martini Michela, senior migration health regional specialist at IOM regional office for East and Horn of Africa
