The webinar aimed to discuss on how efforts to provide access for displaced learners to quality education in safe learning environments has been hampered further by the COVID-19 health pandemic.

The panel aimed to bring together perspectives from education and other humanitarian sectors to explore what is helping or hampering stronger intersectoral approaches for mitigating the compounded impact of forced displacement and the coronavirus on the lives of children, adolescents, and youth.

IOM was among the panelist focusing on ‘Move from emergency to health system strengthening in migration context’. Dr. Michela Martini, the Regional Migration health specialist for East and Horn of Africa discussed the challenges faced by displaced population and how to enhance the integrated approach of displaced and hosting population. She emphasized on the need for progressive inclusion of migrants in the dialogue of universal health coverage, incorporating migration variables in health systems and integration of displaced migrants in preparedness and response plans.
